BITSAT Eligibility:

Candidates should have passed the 12th examination of 10+2 system from a recognized Central or State board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Further the candidate should have obtained a minimum of aggregate 80% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects in 12th examination, with at least 60% marks in each of the Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subjects and should have adequate proficiency in English.

Students who are appearing for 12th examination in 2010 or who have passed 12th Examination in 2009 only are eligible to appear in the BITSAT-2010 test. If a candidate has taken more than one attempt in 12th class or its equivalent, only his latest performance is considered, provided this attempt has been for the full component of subjects/courses prescribed. Students who have passed 12th examination in 2008 or earlier are NOT eligible to appear in BITSAT-2010. Students who are presently studying in BITS at any of its campuses are not eligible to appear in BITSAT-2010

Admissions will be made purely on merit. The merit position of the candidate for admission will be based on the score obtained by the candidate in the BITSAT-2010. However, their eligibility for admission is subject to fulfilling the requirement of minimum marks in 12th examination, as mentioned above.

BITSAT Test Details:

?Computer Based Online test? means the candidate sits in front of a computer and the questions are presented on the computer monitor and the candidate answers the questions on the computer through the use of keyboard or mouse. Each computer is connected to a server, which prepares the question set and delivers it tothe candidate on the computer. This is unlike the traditional paper-pencil based test, which is generally offered on a single day to all candidates. BITSAT-2010 will be offered over a period of time and the candidate can choose the Center, the Day and Time of his/her convenience to take the test, as described in the later sections.

Graduate Engineer Trainee – 131 posts

Minimum Qualification

First Class Engineering degree with minimum 60% marks in aggregate from AICTE approved Colleges/ Recognised Universities in the relevant discipline.

Upper age limit as on 30.06.2009 - 25 years

STIPEND: The selected candidates will undergo training for a period of one year on a consolidated stipend of Rs. 20,800/- p.m.(approximately).

In addition to stipend, the other benefits admissible are Medical, Conveyance Reimbursement, Subsidised Transport and Canteen facility, PF etc., as per rules of the Corporation. On successful completion of the training, they will be appointed as Engineer (Contract) for 3 years. On successful completion of Contract appointment, they will be absorbed as Technical Officer in the scale of pay of Rs.16400-40500.
Method of Selection: The selection process will be through Written Test and Interview of short-listed candidates, based on the performance in written test. The written test will be held at Hyderabad, Bangalore, New Delhi, Kolkatta, Chennai & Mumbai. The written test date will be intimated separately by post to eligible candidates. No TA will be paid for attending the Written Test.
Relaxations: First Class in Engineering Degree is relaxed to Second Class with minimum 50% marks in aggregate for SC/ST candidates.
Age: Upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC. In respect of PH candidates, belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Gen. categories, the upper age relaxation will be for PH-SC/ST-15 yrs; PH-OBC-13 yrs; & PH-Gen -10 years.
The selected candidates are required to execute an Indemnity & Surety Bonds for a period of 4 years (1 year as Trainee + 3 years as Engineer-Contract) for Rs.1,50,000/-.

1. Managers (Personnel & Administration):
Candidates must be graduate with MBA(HR)/P.G.Diploma/Degree in Personnel Management and IR or Master/ Diploma in Social Work from a Govt. recognized University/Institute approved by AICTE and having at least 8 years experience in Executive position preferably in any Manufacturing/Production Industry of repute in handling IR matters, Contractors’ Workers issue etc. Degree in Law will be an added advantage. Age limit 40 years as on 01.01.2009.

2. a) Graduate Engineer Trainees (Power Station):
Candidates must be B.E./B.Tech. in Electrical/Mechanical/Power Plant Engineering. Degree of 4 (four) years duration with at least 65% or 7.25 DGPA marks as the case may be from a Govt. recognized University/College approved by AICTE. Energy Auditor/Energy Manager of BEE will be added qualification. Age limit 26 years as on 01.01.2009.

b) Graduate Engineer Trainees (Civil):
Candidates must be B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering Degree of 4 (four) years duration with at least 65% or 7.25 DGPA marks as the case may be from a Govt. recognized University/College approved by AICTE. Post Graduate Degree/Diploma in Project Management will be added qualification. Age limit 26 years as on 01.01.2009.

N.B. : Final year appeared/appearing students may also apply subject to the production of the final results, in original, at the time of interview. In such cases percentage of marks / DGPA average of last 7 (seven) Semesters shall be considered as above.

3. Safety Officers :
i) Candidates must be Graduate in Engineering or Technology from a Govt. recognized University/Institute approved by AICTE with 2 (two) yearsexperience in Supervisory or Managerial position in a factory under Safety Department.

Or

ii) Honours Graduate in Physics or Chemistry of a Govt. recognized University/Institute with 5 (five) years experience in Supervisory or Managerial position in a factory under Safety Department.

Or

iii) A Diploma in any branch of Engineering or Technology recognized by the State Govt. with 5 (five) years experience in Supervisory or Managerial position in a factory under Safety Department.

4. (a) Sr. Security Officers / (b) Security Officers
Candidates must be B.Sc. (Hons.) in Chemistry. Age limit 26 years as on 01.01.2008.

5. Librarians
Candidates must be Graduate with Degree/Diploma in Library Science from a Govt. recognized University/Institution. Age limit 30 years as on 01.01.2009.

6. Assistant Sub Inspectors (Security)
Candidates must have Higher Secondary or equivalent qualification with at least 5 (five) years service in Defence/ParaMilitary Service. Experience in Industrial Security at the industries of repute will be preferred. Age limit with relaxation 40 years as on 01.01.2009.

7. Nurse cum Midwives
Candidates must have Higher Secondary or equivalent in Science qualification with Diploma in General Nursing Midwifery from the Govt. of West Bengal Health Service or AICTEApproved Course from any recognized Nursing Council and Registration with authorized Nursing Council. 1 (one) year workingexperience in OT and Inpatient Department will be preferred. Age limit 30 years as on 01.01.2009.

Stipend/Pay Scale for the selected candidate (s) :

Sl.No.1 – Pay Band No.4 of Rs.15,600-39,100/- with corresponding Grade Pay of Rs.6,600/ plusD.A. on Percentage (%) of Basic pay (Pay in the Pay Band + Grade Pay) and other allowances as per rules of theCorporation. They will be initially on probation for 1(one) year.

Sl.Nos.2 (a) & (b) – The Trainees will be given stipend of Rs.20,000/ per month during training period of 1(one) year and thereafter, if found suitable through Written Test and Interview, shall be absorbed initially with probationary period of 1(one) year as Assistant Manager (PS)/(Civil), as applicable, in the Pay Band No.4 of Rs.15,600 – 39,100/ with corresponding Grade Pay of Rs.5,400/ plus D.A. on Percentage (%) of Basic pay (Pay in the Pay Band + Grade Pay) and other allowances as per rules of theCorporation. Selected Candidates will be required to furnish a Bond of Rs.1,00,000/ at the time of joining as Trainee. After absorption, on successful completion of the training period they will have to serve the Company for a minimum period of 3 (three) years.

Sl.No.3 & 4(b)- Pay Band No.4 of Rs.15,600-39,100/- with corresponding Grade Pay of Rs.5,400/- and 4(a) same Pay Band with corresponding Grade Pay of Rs.6,600/- plus D.A. on Percentage (%) of Basic pay (Pay in the Pay Band + Grade Pay) and other allowances as per rules of theCorporation. They will be initially on probation for 1(one) year.

Sl.No.5- Pay Band No.3 of Rs.7,100 -37,600/- with corresponding Grade Pay of Rs.3,900/- plus D.A.on Percentage (%) of Basic pay (Pay in the Pay Band + Grade Pay) and other allowances as applicable to the Non-teaching staff as per rules of theCorporation. They will be initially on probation for 1(one) year.

Sl.No.6 & 7- Pay Band No.2 of Rs.6,300-20,200/- with corresponding Grade Pay of Rs.2,600/- plus D.A. on Percentage (%) of Basic pay (Pay in the Pay Band + Grade Pay) and other allowances as per rules of theCorporation. They will be initially on probation for 1(one) year

Other Facilities:Quarters/H.R.A., Medical Benefit, Electricity Allowance, LTC/HTC,GPF/Pension, Gratuity, Leave Encashment Benefit, Leave and Holidays etc., as admissible as per rules.

Other Conditions: Reservation norms for SC/ST/OBC/EC/PH Category candidates shall be followed as per State of West Bengal norms. Age is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC candidates, as admissible, except Sl.No.4 & 6. Age may also be relaxed for the Departmental candidates. Candidates from the States other than West Bengal have to apply as General Category Candidate. Service of each category is transferable.

For Finance : Graduate with CA / ICWA or 2 years full time MBA with finance as main subject with not less than 60% marks.

Selection Process : There will be a Selection Test on 12/04/2009. Short listed candidates will be called for GD and Personal Interview.

The Commission directed 1088 candidates through Memo No. 1303 / RS-23-B/2007, dt.21-07-2009 to submit copies of certificates and check lists on or before 17-08-2009. In the above list of 8452 picked up candidates the list of 1088 candidates was also included.

Online Test and Admission Procedure

1. Online Tests will be conducted in specified online test centres at specified dates and timing.
2. Online test centres will operate only if sufficient number of candidates opt for that centre.
3. As far as possible we will try to accommodate the preferences of candidates for online test centres. However the allotment of Date and Centre for Online Test is vested with the Centre for Distance Education, Anna University Chennai and it is final.
4. The results of the Online entrance test will be announced on the same day of the test.
5. Candidates who are unable to appear for online test on a specified date can have an alternate date for online test, on payment of an additional entrance test fee of Rs. 200/- in the form of a Demand Draft.
6. Candidates are required to bring Original Certificates (SSLC, HSC, Diploma and Degree Certificate) along with one set of Xerox copies when they come for Online Entrance Test for scrutiny and provisional selection, to speedup admission procedure.
7. The xerox copies of certificates of selected candidates of online entrance test will be scrutinized by the Centre for Distance Education and the list of eligible and provisionally admitted candidates will be announced on the web.
8. The actual admission process and payment of fees will take place the online test centres/study centre subsequently.
9. However the selected candidate can get admitted through the Centre for Distance Education also.

Eligibility Criteria for all Full Time MBA Programmes

1 MBA-Core
Bachelor’s Degree (10+2+3) in any discipline from a recognized University with minimum 50% marks in the aggregate. Two years post qualification work experience will be preferred.

MBA Actuarial Science
Candidates should have attained any of the following Educational Standards with minimum 50% marks in aggregate at graduation/post graduation degree level
examination.
a. Bachelor’s Degree (10+2+3) in Statistics / Mathematics / Engineering/Economics/Computer Science/Allied Sciences with minimum 50% marks in Aggregate. Two years post qualification work experience will be preferred.
b. Graduate or Post Graduate with Mathematical subjects. For this purpose following subjects constitute mathematical subjects :
• Mathematics or any of its branches
• Statistics or any of its sub classification such as Mathematical
Statistics and Applied Statistics
• Economics
• Computer Science
• Any discipline of Engineering
• Subject in Science such as Physics or its allied branches
c. Candidate with graduation/ post graduation from other disciplines should have passed 10+2 (H.S.C.) or equivalent with at least 85% in Mathematics / Statistics.

d. Fully qualified members of following professional bodies are also eligible.

Ph.D. Programme
A. The students may be drawn from those with qualifications from any of the streams listed Below:
• Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant disciplines like humanities, social sciences, pure sciences and Commerce, from a recognized university/ deemed university/ institution recognized by Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
• Post-graduate Diploma in Business Administration, considered equivalent to MBA by AIU.
B. Minimum Marks required:
60% marks or equivalent CGPA at PG level.

C. Work Experience:
At least 5 years full time work experience in executive or supervisory capacity after obtaining Master’s Degree.
D. Engineering students with 65% marks or equivalent CGPA at degree level with 5 years work experience in Academic/Academic Institution/ Research/ Corporate.

Teaching Assistantship of Rs. 25000/- will be available to students for period of 4 years, in addition there would an academic fee waiver. Research grants of Rs. 10,000/- per annum for Ph.D. Research.

Eligibility Criteria for Part Time MBA
Bachelor’s Degree (10+2+3) in any discipline from recognized University OR Equivalent pattern recognized by the UGC & AIU. Three Years Post qualification work experience in Supervisory / Executive Cadre as on 31st December 2009 is essential.

Eligibility Criteria for EPGDBM(Bangalore Campus)
Bachelor’s Degree (10+2+3) in any discipline from recognized University OR Equivalent pattern recognized by the UGC & AIU with minimum 50% marks in the aggregate. Five Years Post qualification work experience in Supervisory / Executive Cadre as on 31st December 2009 is essential.

Following criteria is common for all programme.
a) The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA in aggregate from any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
b) The Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent. The percentage obtained by the candidate in the bachelor’s degree would be based on the practice followed by the university/institution from where the candidate has obtained the degree.
c) In case of the candidates being awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks, the equivalence would be based on the equivalence certified by the university/institution from where they have obtained bachelor’s degree. In case the university/institution does not have any scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by NMIMS by dividing obtained CGPA with the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the resultant with 100.
d) Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirement and are awaiting results can also apply. But their admission will be subject to their fulfilling the eligibility norms as mentioned above.

UNIVERSITY GRANTS COMMISSION


ADVERTISEMENT

The University Grants Commission invites applications for the award of fellowship for the year 2008-09 under RAJIV GANDHI NATIONAL FELLOWSHIP SCHEME (RGNFS) for the benefit of SC/ST candidates.
The scheme has been initiated keeping in view the social background of the candidates for the deprived section of the society and to provide them opportunity to undertake advanced studies and research in Sciences, Engg. & Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences in Indian Universities & Colleges. There are 1333 slots for scheduled caste and 667 slots for scheduled tribe every year for all subjects. As per criteria fixed by the Expert Committee50% of the fellowship would be awarded to the female candidates.
The objective of this award is to provide fellowships in the form of financial assistance to students belonging to SC/ST to pursue higher studies leading to M. Phil and Ph.D degree (full time) in Sciences, Engg. & Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences.
The candidates should have a Post Graduate degree in the concerned subject & registered for M.Phil/Ph.D in recognized University/Institute/College
The tenure of fellowship is initially for two years under the RGNF Scheme. Before expiry of this period, the work of the Fellow will be evaluated by a Committee of three members comprising of Head of the Department, Supervisor and one outside expert to be constituted by the concerned Department of the University/Institutions/College. If the research work is found satisfactory, his/her tenure will be extended further for a period of three years under the enhanced emoluments of the Rajiv Gandhi National Senior Research Fellowship (RGNSRF). The recommendation of the Committee shall be submitted to the UGC for upgradation to the level of RGNSRF.

The applications in the prescribed format given below, may be sent to the UNDER SECRETARY, (SA-III), UNIVERSITY GRANTS COMMISSION, BAHADUR SHAH ZAFAR MARG, NEW DELHI-110002 duly forwarded by the Registrar / Director / Principal of the Universities / Institutions / Colleges where the fellow desires to undertake research work within one month from the date of issue of advertisement (non-extendable) (published date 13 December 2008). Application forwarded by the HOD alone would be treated as incomplete.
The selection will be made by an Expert Committee on the basis of merit. The decision of the Commission in this regard shall be final. Direct & incomplete applications will not be entertained.
The application form received from the candidates who have not been selected for fellowship may be destroyed after six on this of the selection made in that respective year under the scheme. Henceforth, such application form could not be called for after destroying.
